  • Just for today, do not worry.

Worry and / or anxiety are human responses to various situations but it is a fact that worry never improved any situation or exerted any positive influence over its outcome. Worry brings with it fear and blocks emotions as well as hopes for the future. We must think about what we do and not what we can’t. If we find ourselves in a worrying situation, it is helpful to take deep slow breathes and if we are able practice some meditation and visualisation or join a yoga class. Once released from even some of our worries we will notice a growing sense of calm and we can use our energies to the full.

  • Just for today, do not anger.

Most of us recognise that anger is destructive, negative and exhausting as well as being symptomatic of a lack of self control. We must learn to control our anger and stay calm so that a sensible outcome to conflicts can be negotiated.  Declining to give way to anger may simply be noticing and acknowledging anger when it arises rather than acting on it. We can learn to release the accumulated negative energy that may lead to anger through exercise or hard physical work. Breathing exercises yoga, meditation or visualisation may also help. Once good anger management has been achieved any stress related conditions should be eased.
